Rob Rorrison

Executive Chairman

Rob commenced his career as a Chartered Account where he specialised in the Insolvency and Restructuring businesses before joining Macquarie Group’s Investment Banking business where he worked for 25 years, including as Chairman Asia for Macquarie Capital’s Asian Resources business, until March 2015.
Over his career Rob has worked across Finance, Capital Markets, M&A, Principal Investments and Corporate Restructuring businesses in Australia, Asia and the UK. Rob was a member of the National Listing Committee for the Australian Stock Exchange from 1993 to 2000 and deputy Chair of the ASX Listing Appeals Committee from 2000 to 2008.
In addition to his role with Climate Capital, Rob is a Director of Banro Corporation Ltd, Twenty Seven Co. Limited (ASX:TSC) and Chairman of Vecco Group Pty Ltd.

Shane Bartel

Chief Executive Officer

Shane has over 20 years of renewable energy project development.

He began consulting to Climate Capital in 2016, ultimately moving into the CEO role in 2020 and developing a project pipeline valued at >$400M.

Since 2001, Shane’s experience extends across the asset development cycle and includes leading acquisition, design, environmental approval and commercial activities on behalf of wind, solar, biomass and hydro power developers.

Shane actively supports STEM and charitable activities within Tasmania.

Simon Bresnehan

Investment Manager

Simon is responsible for financial and investment management.

Simon has extensive financial modelling, analysis and portfolio management experience within energy transmission and distribution, ethical investment, and institutional investment management.

As well as his energy sector expertise, Simon has a broad base of experience in public service, governance and compliance, and serves on the Board and Reconciliation Action Plan Committee of a large, well  established charitable organisation.

Mahesh Warusapperuma

Asset Manager

Mahesh is an experienced project manager and Lead Electrical engineer with over 22 years of experience in oil, gas, and renewable generation and BESS, both grid-connected and Islanded grid for various sites.

Most recently, Mahesh was the commissioning manager for Wärtsilä’s first Australian battery installation and worked on multiple projects with AGL, QGC, Santos, BHP, and Pivot Power.

Mahesh is a Chartered Engineer and is responsible for designing, constructing, commissioning and O&M of energy assets.

Phil Bayley

Senior Investment Adviser

Phil has worked in the energy sector for over 20 years and, alongside Shane, is a founding team member of Climate Capital.

Phil’s focus is on originating investment opportunities. He also provides advice on project development, our strategic alignment with project partners’ ESG goals, and capital, energy, renewable & carbon market fundamentals.

Phil also has various consulting clients including major energy infrastructure owners, renewable energy developers, and climate-focused start-ups.

Katalin Bolkeny

Operations Coordinator

Kat joined Climate Capital in June 2023 and is experienced in business operations and finance.

Her primary role is providing financial and project support to the team, as well as advising on internal business operations to improve workflow efficiency.

In addition to her role at Climate Capital, Kat has experience in compliance and in developing business policies in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals to improve ESG performance and is a proud member of the B Corp Community.
